Application Information

Internships are part-time or full-time positions allowing interns to get involved with a particular area of Top Gun Academy.  Internships are UNPAID, but interns will get immersed in fascinating events and learning opportunities while gaining valuable work experience in one of the most dynamic organizations in the coaching basketball industry.

Interns make a commitment to for a minimum of 3 months, but individuals can work for several years as interns as well. Interns can advance to paid positions over time.

Employment opportunities with TGA in positions are available for interns who choose to get involved with TGA on a high level and after demonstrating a long term commitment to TGA company culture, values, and mission.

Internships require a dedication of a minimum of 5 hours/week; however, interns may complete their work from the comfort of their own homes.

Intern prospects are considered on a rolling basis every 3 months, and interviews are completed when internship positions may become available. Prospects who are interviewed will receive a followup interview when positions are available that may match their qualifications. Those intern prospects who do not receive followup interviews will have their cover letter and resume placed with Human Resources for consideration of future internships.

Please note that the majority of people applying for paid employment will not get an interview because most employees start off as non-paid interns prior to being accepted into a paid position.

Assistant Coach
(Lady Jets Division)

JOB SUMMARY:
Assist with coaching of the Lady Jets in practice and in games. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Help with email communication with parents regarding game and practice times.
  2. Run practices in an efficient manner helping facilitate the Head Coach.
  3. Help coach during games with details and specific things he/she may not recognize.
  4.  Help recruit new players.
  5. This internship can turn into a paid Head Coaching position.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
May assume or assist in emailing parents if there is a conflict.
Updating our Social Network sites with scores and news on Jets.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Experience in coaching preferred if you want to graduate to paid position.
  2. No experience required if willing to learn for internship position.
  3. Positive attitude, passion for the game, ability to work well with kids, and willingness to learn.

Assistant Coach
(Boys Jets Division)

JOB SUMMARY:
Assist with coaching of the Jets in practice and in games.

JOB SUMMARY:
Assist with different tasks required to run the Top Gun Basketball Academy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Send out marketing emails regarding clinics, leagues and camps.
  2. Help run the Top Gun League as an assistant to the League Coordinator.
  3. Update our Social Networking sites with news and scores.
  4.  Help market to gain new players.
  5. Head moderator of the Top Gun Basketball forum and recruit new posters.
  6. This internship can turn into a paid position.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
May assist with website upkeep.
Help with recruitment of new coaches and interns.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Proficient with computer and internet.
  2. Highly detail oriented, results driven and passion to help growth.
  3. Positive attitude, superb communication skills and willingness to learn.

Main Intern
(Miramar Jets Division)

JOB SUMMARY:
Assist with different tasks required to run the Miramar Jets College Basketball Team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Help with film coordination - dubbing games, sending out to coaches, filming games.
  2. Help put together scouting reports.
  3. Update our Social Networking sites with news and scores.
  4.  Send out newsletters to college and high school coaches.
  5. Assist with recruitment of players, sending out mailers and emails.
  6. Assist with practices and in game stats or scorekeeping.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
May assist with website upkeep.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Coaching experience preferred, but this could be an initial step into the coaching business.
  2. Highly detail oriented, results driven and passion to help growth.
  3. Positive attitude, superb communication skills, passion for the game and willingness to learn.
